Unlikely, as Aaron is behind both games.
More likely is that there are fewer ships in a SF "shipset" than in an SEIV one... and the AI's are two different animals... and one would have to put in the extra effort to convert/make the graphics files for 2D BMP's for SEIV as well as the 3D files for SF... and SF mainly ports SEIV weapons and concepts over to 2&1/2D combat anyways, so a mod back to SEIV is sort of circular reasoning.
