It's a "one winner" game and any players in their right mind would NOT allow such a dangerous player to make it to the "Talisman" point. I'd never ally with one. You can get it too quickly with that many planets. The no trading helps the Talisman more as that puts everyone in the same boat, where as you might usually get the situation where no non-religious people will trade with the zealot (such as NGC 4 where I had to research ice tech).

And who said you have to lower aggression? I know it is the standard set up but there are other things...

I am not saying that taking the talisman is not risky, especially if you have a good/experienced player nearby. But, I think you can defend long enough to then be un-killable.
