How could there be enough women in their 20's to match up with so many men (in their 20's, 30's and so on)? If there is such a surplus of women over 30, then there must be a big lack of women for some other age group

Exactly, there's a lot of competition for women under 30, therefore not enough of them. Also, the times are different now. You see a woman with a small child and assume she's in a relationship, right ? Nowadays it's more likely she isn't.

Geo : I know a guy who used to be a mechanic. He'd sit and look at the women going to the hairdresser across the street from his workshop. One day he sold his shop and became a hairdresser. His complaints about women these days are something along the lines of 'they're too jealous of each other'.
