Expansion v. Consolidation
I keep coming across a dilemma. I need to keep expanding my empire in order to generate resources to compete with the AI. Even then, I become dependent on trade to keep a positive resource income. I end up being spread very thin so when the first AI fleet of 15 dreadnaughts comes at me they roll up my planets very easily.
What's the best way to balance expanding your empire v. consolidating?
