No, you are right Saxon. I was watching our breakfast news this morning and naturally, the BBC had one of their star reporters pretty much in the thick of things on the West Bank.

I had the great pleasure of spending not far off a year in the Middle East in 1992/1993 and spent a fair amount of time in Israel and Jordan. I have been to a lot of the West Bank towns including Ramallah and Bethlehem.

The BBC reporter was driving through Ramallah which I always remembered as a lively typical Arab/Palestinian town, thronged to the nines and busy with people enjoying and living their lives. I watched the TV this morning and could not believe. Ramallah was deserted and war torn and I just could not comprehend the difference between reality today and my memories

Please note that I am not casting any opinion or taking any sides on or in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

I think it is just so sad that this sort of thing happens in this modern so-called civilised age
