These 2 shows were completely different

El Scoffo, you are missing the point here. Both shows were different in their DELIVERY, but the underlying conception for each was identical - the comedy club gurus produced both, inputted and wrote both and the intention for each ewas to be satirical in its comedy, one in directly taking the urine out of current affairs, the other by taking it out of yoof culture

*GRRRR!* did you read the interview with Chris Morris in the Sunday Times following Brass Eye? it might well have been a (laudable) atempt to make the media look like a bunch of shysters but he missed the trick by a long way and yes, I did see it and yes, it has been discussed extensively in legal circles.

The highlighting backfire, keep in mind that the 'stars' on the show were duped into appearing, the material was delivered in a slapstick and stupid style and frankly Mr MOrris missed the opportunity to actually do something valid

I do agree with you about some of the political reaction but please, this does not set a precedent between us

Your conclusion for the child carer on the karate competition by the way is what I would expect. I actually have been out tonight with some of the guys from theopposing team whio were drawing lots to kick the **** out of Matthew, the child carer. You are right but luckily these are intelligent people whoi can see thorugh the knee jerk reaction and think logicaslly about it, innocent until proven guilty and all that. It is not so much a witch hunt a la southampton housing estate (which I can, deep down understand) but more your natural reaction. I would beat up morris dancers, line dancers, paedophiles and Gryphin on spec as well

The media's approach to this issue and others IS irresponsible but so it is too too many other issues that matter. Morris' problem was conceding cutting edge to pure Ratings and not doing a pukka enough job of it - he had an opportunity to really make a statement, and in the end just caused a bit of mild embarassment, Anne Widdicombe changing her hair colour was more controversial - Morris is a self centred pillock IMHO who simply uses shock tactics in place of good satire to get Ratings

PS I am a corporate lawyer - I dont effect people other than in a "mass" way

PPS Shotokan, but I have done that for about 12 years and go to a club that does Shotokan, but also freestyle, kick boxing, escrima (yes there is one), tai kwondo and general self defence for girls

The latter has no bearing whatsoever on why I go

PPPS some of you might be delighted to hear that I got through to the second round Last night and then met Steve, 22 stone, 6 ft 6, ex-royal marine unarmed combat instructor (I didnt know when I went in), not so much a 6 pack but a brewery etc
needless to say I lost (including 1 tooth)
