I've tested .mid and .wav and they work for music files, too. .wav isn't all that useful since it's uncompressed and convertible to MP3, but .mid is handy because they're small, and all you amateur composers out there can go creating music for the game with software like Cakewalk Express without having to worry about digitizing!
