I think I'd be fine without re-naming (since I didn't know you could
) so long as there are enough names for commanders that you don't get too many repeats. Most of the time I get names repeated, which is kind of annoying, especially when it comes to magic item assignment, or gem relocation, when all you have to go by is the name. Of course, the way you do those things is changed in Dom II and so it might not be an issue anymore.
