Ok, I posted additional information about how to actually start a game.  I guess I've been contaminated by Dom I, so I no longer have a "newby's perpective", because after I typed out all the stuff you have to do, it seems pretty complex.

 That's a good idea.  Making a default god for each race and including the god file in the package would be a very quick and easy thing to do, and would probably save a lot of new Users headaches... as long as it was clear that there already was a default god.  But I think multiple god profiles per race should be supported, as with your suggestion, when a new user designs a new god, he permanently destroys some of the game's original data using the current 1-god-per-race system.
