I got this mail from ChrisK earlier. Maybe going back to the 3.7 drivers will help for you too. Otherwise trying with the older sdl file might be a solution too. SDL is the graphics library used, so it is a likely culprit when it comes to driver incompabilities.

Just uninstalled Cat3.8 drivers for my Radeon and re-installed Cat3.7. Your demo works like a dream now! So best be careful with the latest Radeon drivers. Maybe you could post a message to your forum about this. /Chrisk
