I don't think Dom2 comes with random maps out of the box, but there are those in the community that have made utilities to make random maps, though the actual physical layout of the provinces in the map arn't all that important, its more about what sites and how valuable the provinces are, and that is random from game to game.

There will be a map builder utility with the game, so you will be able to make your own maps and script them somewhat.

The AI is decent enough, though there's been alot of debate as to what and how to improve it. I'm sure it will get tweeks as patches come out, but it's really not bad at all as it is right now. It has some holes, but then again all AIs have holes (even the GalCiv AI has holes )
