Disposessed Spirits and Apparitions use corpses, Shadows are free.
BTW i have seen Shades and Shade Beasts appearing with Call Shadows and Ghosts and Wailing Ladies(!!!) appearing with Call Apparitions along with the normal Shadows and Apparitions.
