Let's not get started too far down this road...
A GUI is often easier when you're using an application. The command line, by definition, describes the launching of the application.
Some tasks are much simplified when you have an easy time accessing the information you want to organize (which I said in my post, under the generic term of "browsing"). But when it comes to issuing the right commands, with the right arguments, repeatedly, it's much easier to use a good shell (the old default DOS shell is NOT a good one).
What triggered my initial reply to Dekent was the affirmation that "GUI is (almost) easier".
I don't agree with this, in (almost) any possible sense of the word "almost"
