Ok guys..here is the current structure..the old 17 tanks to a company was the old "H" series that went out in 1986. The number of tanks in a US Army platoon is 4. 3 Platoons to a company and 3 companies to a battalion, 3 battalions to a brigade. Not every battalion in a brigade is armor though, heavy mech has 4 Bradleys (Infantry fighting vehicles) to a platoon...at Brigade level there is either 2 tank and 1 infantry battalion or vice versa. During the late eigthies and earl;y nineties there were 4 companies per battalion but this was reduced to the current 3 beginning in 96. The US Army attack helicopter batalions consist of 24 Apaches. The USAF Attack Squadrons usually consist of 18 (A10) aircraft, the fighter squadrons consist of 24 (F16 or F15). Bomber squadrons vary from 6 to around 12. The US Navy fighter squadron consists of 12 aircraft (F14 or F18). Allied squadrons vary from country to country but are typically 12 to 18.
