What determines the number of randomly generated AI players in a game? Sometimes when I start a game with 1 human and 4 or 5 AI players, I'll run into empires that I know I didn't pick as AI-controlled on the map. But then when I started on a really huge map with no AI players to see how many I get, I only found two opponents, Arcoscephale and R'lyeh. Are there specific empires that always appear on certain maps? I'm not playing any maps with yellow stars next to them (scenarios, right?)... Or are there really more empires in my huge map game, I just haven't encountered them yet and so they don't show up in the score graph?
