In gold, per turn. And sacred units cost 1/30. So a regular unit that cost 60gp to recruit will cost you 4gp/turn. A sacred unit costing 60gp will only cost you 2gp/turn. Units consume food equal to (size-1), minimum of 1. Giants and Illithids are size 4, so they each eat 3 supply.
