Yes, they are all colored pencil; and the scanner perceives brightness differently than I do. But it's hard to make things dark with colored pencil, anyway. So I guess I'll digitally change the brightness...
Edit: Wow! Gimp looks like just what I needed. I still have to figure out how "Layers" work, though.
