I've had some good fun with DO, and with Runesword II, though I would recommend playing their demos first. They're not for everyone, especially not those demanding of pretty graphics, but some players will be able to get into them.

P.S. - Note that the Dominions II disk comes with demos of both these games (and others), so you don't even have to download them.
