Just an idea ...
Once an AI Nation has declared War on a human Player (often early and seemingly from out of the blue*) allow the Player to see home Province ownership of that AI.
Softens that "What the Hell?" feeling and makes sense. No big deal. Just a fun little detail.
*I think this is an artifact of the AI's necessary advantage of having knowledge of Province ownership
