Hey, don't stop now. You can get a lot of enjoyment out of "lost" games. Practice your defense. Practise spell combinations. Go for the sea provinces, and experiment with them.

One of the most fun games(and amost frustrating, I have to admit) was (endgame) with marignon against Ermor. Having previously exhausted myself against Arco and Pythium (hey, they were attacking me...). Anyway ermor was clearly winning the game. Hordes of undead took province by province. I mut have bLasted 10.000 of these bastards in a continuous retreating battle, untill i had only about 7 or 8 provinces left.
That is when I amassed my Last huge force. A dozen indie leaders, 17 palladins (some well equipped), a mixed bag of about 40 assorted priests and inquisitors,20 mages (leaving another 10-15 forgers/researchers behind)a host of about 20 powerfull summoned creatures (most had been killed in the "big retreat"), and a few dozen xbows and about 300 assorted other units, were sent on a reconquista. Boy did I have fun retaking a few of those provinces. Eventually I lost, mostly because of newb mistakes (and some gutsy , in retrospect stupid moves). However, the "El Cid" feeling of the Last charge was awesome.

Anyway, unless you're really really frustrated, you should continue that game, at least occasionally.
