[Devnullicus]

I have been running a game using my latest mod (DevnullMod 1.31) and it's been quite interesting. I'm now on turn 70 or so and was just attacked by a rather scary ship design.

The Piundon created a light cruiser with the following components:
7 Ion Engine II's
Bridge/LS/CQ
Phased Shields VI (240 shield points)
2 x Large Mount Shard Cannon X
1 x Energy Dampener III
2 x Point Defense Cannons V
1 x Mini Point Defense Cannon III
20 x Splinter Armor III ( 160 points of armor + 40 points of damage channeled to shields)

I'm truly impressed. That's almost as good as a human-designed ship. A little light on weaponry, but overall, not too bad. Took a lot to kill it, lemme tell ya!

Earlier in the game (around turn 50 or so) I was humming along glassing enemy homeworld when I came up against the UnitedFloral attack fleet. Well, I had 8 Heavy Cruisers in my fleet and they only had 6 in theirs, so I figure it should be winnable.

Next thing I know, not only am I being torn apart by their seeking parasites (a LOT of them -- overwhelming my poor point defense), but then I'm suddenly facing my own ships as their line reaches mine and their allegiance converters start taking over all my ships. I lost all of my ships in that battle (3 destroyed, 5 captured) and only took out 2 of theirs. Yikes.

And the wierd thing is I didn't even give the AI any bonus this game. I have the settings at High Difficulty, but No bonus. I have more research points, but most of the AI's are still somewhat outstripping me in tech research.

Now if only I could get them to behave more intelligently, I'd actually be getting really scared about now. But I will say, it's a lot more fun than it used to be =)
