Dont feel that way. Im kindof using your post to make alot of people aware of some options. Its also why I stated an anti-wishlist thread of things that often get asked for although you can kindof do them already.
So, you're saying that if I ally with a human player, we can both send troops into our common enemy's province, and our troops will fight the enemy, and not fight each other?
You can both attack but only from different provinces, and the fights happen one at a time. This MIGHT mean that your friend takes the province, then you fight him. But thats not as big a deal as you might think in multiplayer games. Its usuall worth the result.
Also, how can I give allies sanctuary,
Ive been in a number of games when a player was getting beat, and another plaer offered them a back province (no defense and no troops there) for them to teleport to (or some other spell). The "beaten" player could build back up protected behind his buddy, then try to reclaim his lands.
and how do I pass through allied territory?
This is a basic advantage of a number of the nations. To add that as an alliance thing would lessen the balancing factor for those nations. Man, Pangaea, Vanheim, Ulm (black forest). Having these "behind" you allows for a great alliance where you concentrate on defense while letting them thru to do attacks.
There is also the trick of setting up a crossroad. Like a streetlight where your armies can both pass thru. 1 province which neither of you put defence on, and both of you take it with your army as you pass thru.
Also a castle can be great for that. nation A keeps a large army in the castle and nation B takes the province then moves on without damaging nation A's troops inside the castle.
And later there are lots of spells for moving armies.
(Actually, a more basic question: how do I form an alliance?)
In multiplayer games there are many alliances. A common thing is called a NAP (non-aggression pact) with rules. Such as "3 turns advance warning before dissolving the pact".
And, yes, can I form an alliance with a computer player?
Apparently yes. I just found this out. But its done the way the computer does it. You can create a map and declare a nation to be allied with you. As far as I have been able to test, the computer wont attack you until you attack it first. (there can be accidents though if you both try for the same indept province in the same turn)
No one asked about giving provinces? (just dont put in defence and agree that your buddy can attack it)
Or giving commanders such as high priests, assassins, powerful mages? (in one game a guy sent me alot of gold and gems for one of my mages. I moved him into a territory by himself and told the guy what the province number was. He used spells to snatch the mage and convert him)
As to getting these things in a more official in-game capacity... Im afraid most of it is not multiplayer stuff so it might be a real long time if at all.
