Well, in that case....
Seems like it'd be nice if there were some additional holy spells, and also forged items that required holy / unholy magic.
Now - there isn't any holy / unholy gems in the game. But sacred items could perhaps always require a second path of magic; or they could require astral gems for the magical material component (as someone has mentioned that Astral, for some reason, equates to holy magic, not to mention the Grail and other holy magic items).
A second path of magic would possibly give some nations an advantage (Vanheim, Abysia, others with priestly mages), but it might also lead to ... empowered priests. Maybe some researchable pure priest spells - improved strength banish undead, holy flares from evocation, something akin to the old "Divine Armaments" from Dom1 under alteration or enchantment that makes troops weapons magic for the purpose of striking undead only.
Maybe a "Summon Divine Power" spell, that adds +1 to the sacred priest level. Or even better, simply increases the chances of priest magic penetrating MR.
And items - the Grail really ought to be a Holy item, and not Astral, imo; likewise some other artifacts that should maybe be based on holy or unholy priest magic, instead of on Astral or Death or whatnot - that way, almost any nation could aspire to having the Grail or other "sacred" artifacts, instead of it being de facto relegated to the handful of nations / themes best able to get Astral magic on national mages.
Then again - maybe all these ought to come under Water magic, since it needs a boost.
