The server didn't "come back up"...the server's uptime indicates that it has been up the entire time. Therein lies the problem. If the server had entirely gone down, the game would be entirely down, and I'd have to manually restart it when I got back on.
Unfortunately, it seems that the network collapsed for some unknown reason that neither I nor the sysadmin can fathom. I've recommended chewing out the ISP.
