Of course, if people keep using rar then you have to pay to register winrar, on top of already possibly having paid to register winzip. (Although winrar handles zips, the interface, at Last check, left even more to be desired than pkzip did. Note : Pkzip also handles .rar files.)

Where did you get that from?
Ive been using Winrar for a long time and havent even been prompted to register.
AFAIK it might ask you to register after a VERY long time using it and even then it isnt obligatory...
EDIT: Im using a regular PC with Windows installed...
