So Capt. Von Trapp was in the Austrian Navy? Except for some beautiful lakes and a major river, Austria is a landlocked country. Did they used to have a port? Hope this doesn't bring up any touchy wartime issues.

The way i see it is that It used to have a Port. Then The sea level decreased and the majority of germany was rediscovered, Just ask the Dutch
Obviously this never happened but in a film like the sound of music i don't think anyone was keeping track
