The odd were not exactly those statistically found by Saber Cherry due to a slight miscalculation.
You should find that while Mind Duel is still very much a factor, the attrition rate discrepency between 1-6 Astral levels isn't nearly as high in the higher difference brackets.
So your Astral King will be harder to kill with those that don't get near his level.
