I believe it went something like.

Invasion fleet comes to an unconquered planet and this conversation happens.

I.F.: Surrender or perish.
P.(This is you): I think not.
(EDIT): This was too fast to read word for word but I think this is the basic jist of it.

Your planet sends out a better fleet of ships with shields. They fire stuff at you, but is deflected by your shields. You fire your weapons and destroy all ships. Then the game starts, you with one planet and bent on conquering all the galaxy.
