By materials, I assume you mean textures? Basic colour and and model properties are easy to set in doga; although somewhat limited, you can mostly get what you want easily. Textures themselves though, are compared to other 3d apps, are extremely limited; there is no mapping; and there is almost no control over how the texture will be seen on the model.
The textures I used for that picture posted a while ago were actually taken (read: stolen

) from the net and games, and edited with photoshop 6.
