I've always wanted to make a Fading Suns Mod for Space Empires, but I think it's just not geared up to well for it.
But it would be cool, It's tempting... The trick would be in the details to make it enjoyable. As for Starfury i think that might work, but it's time i don't have right now.

As for the planets thing David Mentioned, I'm using the same thing to make extra planets for the imagemod (it's slightly on hold at the moment due to college) and I'm experimenting with some planet textures and stuff in starfury.
Might post some screenshots for your enjoyment later sometime.
