I have seen a variety of magic units to dissolve: iron dragons, some seasonal spirits, claymen etc, so being magic being doesn't prevent dissolvment. However, closer examination shows that all these magic beings are mindless as well, so you must be right that mindlessness is the only cause of dissolvment and being magic is irrelevant.
