Default Re: OT: Prediction For The New Year

The UN will kick out the United States, calling it a "rogue nation", and President Bush will say something to the effect of "so piss off, I never liked you folks anyway"

Over 1 million American citizens will defect to Canada

Probes will find extraterrestrial bacteria on one of the moons of Saturn or Jupiter.

I will be incarcerated and possibly tortured by the CIA in an undisclosed location as a threat to national security.

A Chinese scientist will successfully clone a human... and promptly have the clone (and possibly himself) executed by whoever supposedly goes around enforcing the one-child-per-family law (is that law really enforced or is it just an urban legend? )

The Hubble Space Telescope will be used to discover a tenth planet orbiting the sun, thereby extending its life ANOTHER ten-plus years beyond its design parameters due to the immense publicity

Aaron Hall will come from 10 years in the future to give his present self the code for Space Empires X, thus saving himself years of work - OK, I lifted this one right out of the Last episode of Voyager, so sue me

Master of Orion IV will be announced - published by Microsoft, for the XBOX 2, to be released no earlier than 2009

Some starving graphic designer will invent something that revolutionizes human/computer interaction as much as the mouse did, only to have it bought up by Microsoft for $5,000 and a lifetime supply of upgrades to MS Paint

Wings 3D will go commercial

The lead developer of Stars! Supernova Genesis will go insane / commit suicide / do something completely wacko out of desperation at never getting his game published.

The GPL and LGPL will be declared illegal in much of the Western world.

Washington DC will be nuked by terrorists during a joint session of Congress; in news polls, over 15% of Americans will call the event "not entirely bad" or "actually an improvement"
