Gandalf Parker said:For one thing, my table grace is along the line of "thank god for the variety of life which has given itself to my meal each day". Yes its rather druidic. But it serves to remind me and make me thankful that my meal includes so much. Foods from all over the world, any single part of it was at one time the ENTIRE diet of some group of people who were thankful of an ocassional change. We are unlikely to discover new foods now, but we are very likely to lose many. And thats just one of many areas which we may be telling our grandkids "I remember having..."
Be thankful for bananas, songbirds, water, and beef.

How true. Thanks for the reminder. I lived in Thailand for 3 years and talk about an unvaried diet! For the new year, I will make a conscious effort to reduce the "fast food" to an absolute necessity and make better use of all the fresh vegetables we have at hand in the US. Good thing for me I love tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce (all types), cabbage, beans (all types...LOVE my 15-bean soup!), potatoes, onions, garlic (well, for seasoning but, there IS a rule that says, "One can't EVER have too much garlic!", isn't there?), brocolli, peas (all types), squash, coliflower (sp?), carrots, peppers (all types, especially green peppers), and brussel sprouts. (don't even get me started on fruits!)
It's a nice thing you say, GP, whether it be druidic or not.
