we dutchies where great shipbuilders around that time and we made sure not to let em sink in the harbour as far as I know

the ship ur reffering to (I think) is the Vasa: or an English ship a few years earlier... but the idea is the same:

The Vasa sank within one nautical mile of the start of her maiden voyage in 1628 before she even left the Stockholm archipelago There was a sudden squall, her gun ports were still open and when she listed heavily to port, the gun ports sank below water level and water gushed in. bye bye man-O-war
