Default Re: Local Tournament

Well, it is very possible to conduct a tournament of some kind with SEIV. See Race to SEV, King of the Hill, the SE Ratings, etc. But, for an audience of mostly unfamiliar college students...? Not sure how you would want to design it. You'll probably want things to go as quickly as possible, since college students are notorious for having little time for things such as these, and the longer it goes, the higher chance lots of people will drop out. (I'm a college student, by the way)

One thing I'm a bit afraid to ask... how exactly do you plan on gettting enough copies of SEIV for the event? While I personally think it would be ok morally to have one copy installed *only for the duration of the event* on each computer, then direct people to Shrapnel at the end, it's still technically illegal to do so. I would talk to some of the Shrapnel folks, just to be safe.

Anyway, I would say use some of the "blitz-style" games, with custom, very small maps. Maybe around 5-10 systems. Then games will go by very quickly. Other people will have better suggestions for rules and such.

And for flyers... well, that's kinda what I do in the buildings I live/work in. Probably the best bang for the buck is using quarter sheet flyers on colored paper. The local copy shop does a page for 6 cents, so I routinely make around 250 flyers for around $3.75, which gets flyers all over the place, and lets lots of people know about the thing.
