I was playing Niefelheim once and made the mistake of attacking Machaka. They get flaming arrows as a national spell. I was massacred.
Also you could just hide and hope they go away.

Whoops. They get "Blindness" for free. They had researched the arrows. In any case, the result was the same: Niefel Kabobs.
