Just as an addendum, ToughGuy, the situation you describe above will never happen. The only way a unit will appear in the recruitment screen is when you find a new magic site that allows recruitment of that unit. Sites which state "have a mage enter to get unit X" only mean that when your mage enters that site, the unit in question is automatically summoned - check your army screen for the new ghouls, not the recruitment screen.
