Default Re: Any One Going To Go See Serenity?

Took off from work today @ noon and went to AMC 24 to see it. Wrote this to several friends later today:

Well, as a prejudiced Serenity/Firefly fan, I can give it two thumbs up and say I enjoyed it more than the Star Wars movies I’ve seen.

It has a good deal of action and when the action has quieted down, there’s pretty tense drama as a replacement. All the characters are true to form and background from the series carried over. Not sure how well the movie works for those who never saw the Firefly series as it’s difficult to say if they were left with questions or not since, as a series viewer, I had more history to flesh things out with. The movie should surprise you in a few places. And there are more one-liners that get audience chuckles than we are used to seeing in Arnold movies…but that’s true to the Firefly series of what I call, “a serious crew but with a sense of humor”. As a fairly devout supporter of the effort, I’d have to say a few emotions swelled up on me as I really appreciated various parts of the movie and was glad to see how well they were carried out. And like any good book, sad that the move had come to an end knowing if there is a sequel, it will be a long way off. Oh, and as homage to all the support of the fans, you’ll see/hear reference to “Can’t stop the signal” (which is/was the byline of a lot of the different groups of supporters) more than once.

Theatre was over half full…not bad for that time of day.

You should enjoy the movie.
