Default Would this be considered a gamey tactic

I am in a PBW game where there are a few AI empires present. Currently there is an AI empire that is at war with me, but instead of sending warships has been sending colony ships into my system. Not a big deal because everything is developed, but they were causing my population emotional problems.

Initially, I was just blasting them out of space, but I got the idea of creating a few LC's equipped with Shield depleters and boarding parties and now I just snatch them as they come through the warp point. Since they are a different atmosphere type than myself, and because I am creating planets I have been using these ships to colonize worlds with that type of atmosphere.

My question, since the AI has no intention of stopping the practice of sending colony ships my way, and I feel no need to stop it from doing it (since I am benefiting) is it a cheesy tactic.

Just curious what everyone here thinks.
