...so i got Trillian and i like it a lot, SJ. IRC, ICQ, MSN, whatever you want, its all in there and only needs really few memory
You must not have 3.x then. Trillian 2.x and lower are fine pieces of software engineering. 3.0 and above are bloated crap that have huge memory and CPU requirements... It is fact that Trillian has become as much of a cesspool as the official clients. No way should an IM client
ever use 28% of a 2 GHz CPU when viewing the contact list! Even disabling avatars and such only got it down to the 14-20% range. Gaim, Miranda, etc. rarely even hit 1%. And that Wikipedia link module... ugh. The IRC module is now the worst it has ever been, since they added one in the first place! The configuration interface is now a lot harder to use due to the excessive bloat. You can't even connect to Jabber, an entirely open source IM network, without purchasing pro! Rewriting the program from scratch has in this case meant that it is turned to feces. Combine this with an extrmely slow development cycle... ugh again.
Much like what happened with WinAmp 3... 3 is a bad version number! Thank god for foobar2000...
