Raid on the 'TACAN' site "Lima 85" atop Pha-Thi mountain.

Date: March 11th 1968

Pha-Thi Mountain, NE Laos

Battle Type: PAVN assault v USAF/Thai defend*

Design by: Andy Weaver.
Testers: Tom DeShetler, Fabio Prado, Massimo Rocco, Sgt Walrus and "Wild Bill" Wilder

Description: *Comrade Truong Muc, your specially trained PAVN Sapper Assault team is to assault and

destroy the US TACAN site atop Pha-Thi mountain.

It will liberate the American and 'Bandit' objectives and hold until relieved. Overwhelming People's Army of Vietnam forces are approaching from the East and North-East, pending reciept of a success signal.

The plateau atop the mountain is heavily fortified, mined and wired above steep cliffs. Your previous recce has identified approx 20 Americans, a reinforced Company of Thai and Irregular forces and several artillery and HMG positions.

Your reconnaisance showed a gap in the enemy defences, with a path up the karst cliff (Which is where you
will start your assault)

Other enemy forces up to Battalion size are within ~2.5km. Since the installation (Lima 85) controls and
directs most airstrikes on Northern Vietnam, enemy air support is expected.

Notes: This scenario is designed to be played against the AI, the human player should take 'Player 1'.

Historical Note: The raid on Lima 85 resulted in a major victory for the PAVN forces. For the loss of 1 man killed and 2 wounded they achieved their objectives.

They killed 42 "enemy" personnel, mainly Lao & Thai soldiers and routed the Meo special Forces off the
mountain.

The exact status of most of the USAF personnel is still uncertain (KIA/BNR or POW/MIA).
