I have been playing SE IV with friends for over a year now. It is great fun and each session is always filled with a "why hasn't ip/tcp been implemented" so that we could do this all the time. Once you have become accustomed to hotseat play, play by the web is such a sorry alternative -- takes too long to develop.

My strategy tip is "not to lose." We have seen all sorts of strategies come and go. But, just like in real estate, your starting location is always key. We have recently started increasing the number of planets at start and the tech level at start.

SE IV is a great game -- it would become truly steller if tcp/ip were ever a part of what the game could do.
