The Knoppix CD should ignore whatever they did to make it not appear as a drive in Windows and mount the partition so you can view its contents. It generally puts drives as folders on the desktop (note that nothing is installed or changed on your PC by booting a live CD). I don't know if it would be possible to launch the installer from there though.
The computer manufacturer most likely provides instructions for how to install from that partition, assuming a full Windows installer was included. Maybe they stuck a readme on there? Who knows.
Did they provide any sort of "system disk" or "emergency repair disk?"
