Following both Baron Munchausen and Aaron Hall's advice (see Aaron's email below) the problem has been fixed.

Try this and let us know if it fixes the problem:
1. Uninstall the game completely.
2. Install from the CD.
3. Copy all of the fonts out of the fonts directory to a separate
location.
4. Install the latest patch.
5. Copy the original fonts into the fonts directory overy the ones that
are there.

This should fix your problem!
