There's just one thing I'm a bit worried about. The last few days, I've been hearing a strange buzzing noise, but there's never anyone around for me to ask if they hear it too. So what's kind of bugging me is if, somehow, the doctors managed to make a mis-diagnosis (not bloody likely, but bear with me), could the medication I'm taking be causing me problems? ie: a non-psychotic taking anti-psychotics would begin to exhibit psychotic symptoms?
There's a lot of things in the house that could be making the strange noise, & it being in my head is last on my list of causes but the fact that it only started after I started on my medication bugs me a bit...
Actually, psychiatric illnesses are still highly likely to be misdiagnosed. You're usually going by what someone says about their inner experience, not a truly objective 'lab test' as with physical illness. People who are seeing aliens or hearing voices or whatnot can usually be pretty certain they got the right diagnosis when the drugs make the aliens disappear and/or the voices stop, though.

But a 'non-psychotic' taking anti-psychotic medications wouldn't experience any different side-effects from the actual psychotic. It's the same medication either way. So you ought to research the medication as already suggested and see if 'ringing in the ear' or other auditory effects are among the known side-effects.
