Re: Origins
As usual, Origins was great. Same faces as always, great seminars, lots of gamers to hang around with. You haven't lived until you've sat through a WW2 seminar given by David Glantz or an ancient warfare seminar given by Charles Sharp. David Powell's Civil War talks were also a lot of fun. There was also a Turkish fellow whose name escapes me who gave a very interesting talk on the Ottoman Army in the Napoleonic era.
It's wonderful to go to Columbus each year and see all the old hands and say hi and what-are-you-up-to. Eating greasy Food Court food, drinking at the Hyatt bar while reading one of Glantz's self-published WW2 books and watching the gamers chatter about some d20 adventure... Origins is really the high point of my year. I love every minute of it. Too bad we could not stay for Sunday.
As always, there is that bit of emptiness once I get home. Maybe I will find a way to break through the shell of introversion I live in and try to hook up with some gamers here in Cleveland.
