That´s because Sten was very unreliable, and maybe not so handy either, not because .45 burst was so much better putting enemies down compared to 9mm burst.

Thompson was a Mercedes, Sten a bit worse.. besides commados take much better care of their beloved weapons offsetting the complexity of Thompson´s design.
