They had documentation in Dom2 but the best manuals were written by the players. And if you mean strategy guide then these forums are it.  It would take a strategy encyclopedia set to cover dom2 and it was small compared to dom3.

I'm talking about the paper manual that comes with the game. It's supposed to be bigger and better this time. I'm really looking forward to it.
