AVI would be no help at all, since that is a movie format.

You want to try wav format, which is a sound file.

Search the forum on "goldwave". Dowload that and convert to wav file format with the same file names (except extension of course!), and then change entries in the SOUNDS.INI file to point at the new WAV files you have converted instead of MP3. Simple.
