Type descriptions don't mean anything, they're just text tags so you know what your ships are supposed to do. Strategies is what you want to look at. You can set a strategy for every design, and you can give individual ships strategies too. From what I've been told, once you know the intricacies of strategy-making, you're much better off playing strategic.

-----Combat bug: I'm playing a stock game. My fleet of 11 Frigates attacks a Neutral Homeworld. I choose Tactical. Click Begin. It shows the opponent move first. Then my ships start moving each turn by themselves. The AI is playing mine and I'm just observing. This might be confusing to new players. Has this happened to others? I had to "Control-Alt-Delete" out. Luckily I had just saved the game; allthough I have auto save set for every two turns.

Did you accidentally select the Auto button, or did you accidentally click the Auto Resolve Combat button in the combat menu?
[/quote]-----My "Current Total" of minerals(278669) is greater than my "Maximum Resource Storage"(270000). Have others seen this happen? I wonder what the next turns will show. My net resources per turn is +39809 Minerals. I guess I need alot more Ship Yards.

That can happen if you scrap a ship or get another one-time resource boost (gifts, perhaps? Iunno for sure) and the amount you receive is greater than the storage space you have left. If your net income is positive, it'll vanish next turn. (Oh, and instead of just building more shipyards, maybe you could also consider building a heck of a lot more storage - you might end up needing it later on, and in any case, it's always handy in case you need to manufacture a lot of ships fast.)
